Noise protection right from the start - GBMZ Settlement 6 "Stüdli

Grolimund + Partner examines the noise protection measures of all 15 projects entered in the architectural competition

Noise protection right from the start - GBMZ Settlement 6 "Stüdli

On March 21, 2019, the Gemeinnützige Bau- und Mietergenossenschaft Zürich (GBMZ) has chosen the winner of the architectural competition for the replacement building of settlement 6 "Stüdi".

Grolimund + Partner AG accompanied the competition along the busy Hohlstrasse from the beginning with regard to noise protection. In a first phase, the noise pollution without the existing settlement was calculated and presented, and based on this, different development variants were evaluated with regard to noise protection. Based on this, the competition regulations regarding noise were finally formulated in cooperation with the authorities. Within the framework of the competition, Grolimund + Partner AG examined the 15 projects submitted for compliance with the regulations and assessed the noise protection advantages and disadvantages.

Due to the early inclusion of the noise issue, it was possible to ensure that the competition entries complied with the environmental regulations according to the specifications of the authorities and that they could be approved in principle with regard to noise. Especially in noisy locations, there will be no way around this procedure in the future.
