Climate change is primarily caused by CO2 emissions, mainly from the burning of fossil fuels for human energy needs.
In the construction sector
The construction sector has an enormous influence on the climate, as it is responsible for about half of the world's energy consumption. It is therefore important that architects become aware of their responsibility and rediscover the climate as a relevant design factor, as was the case in vernacular architecture. The climate must be an integral and elementary part of the planning process, instead of simply handing it over to the building physicist or technician at the end of the planning process.

In road traffic
Road transport is the largest consumer in Switzerland, accounting for over 27 % of gross energy consumption. A reduction in the overall energy consumption of road traffic can therefore make a significant contribution to climate and environmental protection.
- As part of a federal research project, G+P has investigated the potential of road infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the rolling resistance properties of road surfaces. The potential of the existing road surface types in Switzerland is great. The study showed that better rolling resistance properties of low-noise road surfaces, for example, can lead to significant savings in use-related greenhouse gas emissions.
